Meet Dr. Pardos

Hi! I’m Dr. Jessica Pardos, SLPD, CCC-SLP (she/they), an ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist and the owner of AugmentAbility Speech Therapy PLLC. I specialize in neurodivergent-affirming speech, language, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) services for teens and adults. I provide in-person services in Lakewood and select community settings throughout the Denver metro area, as well as telehealth services across Colorado and Illinois.

My goal is to help clients communicate authentically, advocate for themselves, and participate more fully in the parts of life that matter to them. Therapy is collaborative, strengths-based, and designed around each person’s communication style, priorities, interests, and real-life needs.

I have worked in public schools from preschool through transition programming, university clinics, acute care, community settings, and private practice. My clinical interests include AAC, expressive and receptive language, stuttering, executive functioning, social communication, self-advocacy, and communication access for speaking and nonspeaking people.

My approach is evidence-based, disability-affirming, neurodivergent-affirming, client-centered, and strengths-based. I do not view therapy as a way to make someone appear more neurotypical. Instead, I support communication autonomy, self-advocacy, access, and goals that are meaningful to each client. I recognize speech, AAC, gestures, facial expressions, body language, writing, and other forms of communication as valid and meaningful. My work is grounded in anti-ableist, anti-racist, and LGBTQ+ affirming values.

I earned my Doctor of Speech-Language Pathology and Master of Science in Speech, Language, and Learning from Northwestern University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, with a minor in Linguistics, from the University of Colorado Boulder. In addition to providing clinical services, I enjoy staying current with research related to communication, disability, and the science of teaching and learning. I have also served as a teaching assistant in Northwestern University’s Doctor of Speech-Language Pathology program.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my partner and our five pets—which is admittedly a lot of pets! I also enjoy jiu-jitsu, sailing, reading, yoga, collecting and creating fidgets, and crocheting several projects at once. One of my favorite recent projects has been making picky pads.

My pets occasionally make guest appearances during telehealth sessions. Please let me know if you would prefer a pet-free appointment.
